DPE is proud to announce that we have been selected as one of the Compute Curious organisations in the AI Hub for Development Compute Accelerator Programme – an initiative designed to close Africa’s compute gap and unlock the full potential of homegrown AI innovation.
Africa’s AI momentum is unmistakable, but so is the challenge: 95% of Africa’s AI talent is excluded from advanced experimentation due to limited access to computational power. Without compute, brilliance stalls before it becomes impact.
We are well attuned to this through personal experiences building AI solutions at DPE.
The 6-months Compute Accelerator directly addresses this barrier by providing mentorship, cloud credits, GPU resources, and technical guidance from global experts, ensuring innovators can go from curiosity to capability – faster, and with support from a global community.
Through this programme, DPE will gain:
- Sandbox compute credits to accelerate our health-equity AI experiments
- Mentorship from global technical leaders across AI and digital public goods
- Access to GPUs contributed by CINECA, and additional cloud resources from partners such as Microsoft and Amazon Web Services
As part of this programme, we will accelerate our work on AI-powered models that strengthen public health campaigns, improve provider-patient communication, and support community-level data ecosystems. We are excited to contribute, learn, and build with peers across the African continent.
